Gangs - Guns & Drugs
The proliferation of gang problems in our nation
transverses all social, economic and geographic boundaries and involves many
communities. Although there may not be as many members or violent crimes may
not reach the staggering numbers of our inner cities, Cape May County is no
different – we have gang members who thrive on violence and illegal conduct
such as narcotic distribution. They engage in criminal activity, and are
particularly perilous to our children who are often the target of
recruitment efforts.
The County Prosecutor,
under the direction of the Attorney General, has taken steps through a
reorganization of the investigation staff and the creation of a Gangs, Guns
and Narcotics Task Force. The Prosecutor’s Office, through
community outreach programs
educates our residents and
addresses this growing concern throughout our neighborhoods.

Street Gangs
Cape May
County, as well as many other areas in the state of New Jersey, has seen a
recent infiltration of street gangs. High-ranking gang members of the Bloods
and Crips as well as a number of smaller gangs have been known to reside in
several Cape May County communities and engage in drug distribution and
weapons trafficking.
