Couple Arrested After Child Abuse Investigation

Cape May Court House, New Jersey – Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief Christopher Leusner of the Middle Township Police Department announce the arrest of 26-year-old Bradford Artis and 38-year-old Shannon Artis, both residents of Middle Township, New Jersey.

On February 6, 2021, Bradford Artis and Shannon Artis were each charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a crime of the second degree, two counts of Aggravated Assault, a crime of the third degree, and one count of Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, a crime of the third degree. The charges were a result of an investigation conducted by the Middle Township Police Department and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit involving the abuse of two juvenile victims. Bradford Artis and Shannon Artis were processed on the above listed charges and are currently being lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Center.

Prosecutor Sutherland advises persons convicted of a second-degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of 5 to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison. Persons convicted of a third-degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of 3 to 5 years in New Jersey State Prison.
