Arrest Made in Sexual Assault Investigation

Cape May Court House, New Jersey – Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Lower Township Police Chief William Mastriana announce the arrest Albert M. McCarraher, a 19 year old resident of Bayshore Road in North Cape May, N.J. on sexual assault charges.

On November 4, 2019, the Lower Township Police Department was alerted to a 14 year old female victim who stated she had been sexually assault by McCarraher during the first week of November. Detectives from the Lower Township Police Department and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit immediately initiated an investigation.

During the course of this investigation, two other juvenile female victims provided statements that they were sexually assaulted by McCarraher. A 14 year old victim stated she was sexually assaulted in October 2019 and an 11 year old victim said she was also sexually assaulted during the first week of November.  All three victims were acquaintances of McCarraher.

On November 7, 2019, Albert M. McCarraher was arrested and charged with four counts of sexual assault of a juvenile, crimes of the second degree, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, crimes of the third degree. McCarraher was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility pending Court proceedings. *
