3 People Indicted for a First Degree Drug Induced Death and Other Drug Related Charges

Cape May Court House, New Jersey – Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Lower Township Police Chief William Mastriana announce the Grand Jury Indictment of three individuals on October 23, 2018 for First Degree Drug Induced Death and other drug related charges.

On July 21, 2018, Eric Nolan, 35 years old, was found unresponsive inside his residence in the North Cape May section of Lower Township. Paramedics and Officers from Lower Township attempted to resuscitate Nolan but were unsuccessful. A death investigation was immediately initiated by Detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Lower Township Police Department. On August 10, 2018, three individuals were charged regarding the death of Eric Nolan:

– Susan E. Mazzone, a 43 year old female from the 100 Block of School House Lane, Cape May Court House, NJ, was charged with Drug Induced Death, a crime of the first degree.* Mazzone was subsequently lodged in the Atlantic County Jail pending Court proceedings.

– Lauren M. Dorff, a 31 year old female from the 200 block of West Pacific Avenue, Villas, NJ, was charged with Drug Induced Death, a crime of the first degree and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a crime of the third degree.* Dorff was subsequently lodged in the Atlantic County Jail pending Court proceedings.

– Sherman R. Martin, a 44 year old male from the 100 block of School House Lane, Cape May Court House, NJ, was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute a Counterfeit Narcotic, a crime of the third degree; Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a crime of the third degree; and Possession of a Counterfeit Prescription Pill, a crime of the third degree.* Sherman was release with summonses pending Court proceedings.

Additional charges were filed against Mazzone on August 16, 2018 for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (two counts), both crimes of the third degree; and Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (two counts), both crimes of the third degree.

On October 23, 2018, a Cape May County Grand Jury indicted Mazzone, Dorff, and Martin on the following charges:

– Susan E. Mazzone was indicted for Drug Induced Death, a crime of the first degree; Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (three counts), crimes of the third degree; and Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a crime of the third degree.

– Lauren M. Dorff was indicted for Drug Induced Death, a crime of the first degree; and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a crime of the third degree.

– Sherman R. Martin was indicted for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (two counts), crimes of the third degree; and Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a crime of the third degree.

Prosecutor Sutherland stated if you sell drugs to another individual which results in their death, you will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Prosecutor Sutherland further stated that individuals charged with a first degree crime can be sentenced to a term of 10 to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison and third degree crimes can carry a sentence of 3 to 5 years in Prison.
