Man Indicted for a First Degree Drug Induced Death Charge

Cape May Court House, New Jersey – Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Wildwood Police Chief Robert Regalbuto announce the Grand Jury Indictment of Sean W. Tatem on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 for a First Degree Drug Induced Death charge.

On May 31, 2018, Sean W. Tatem, a 29 year old male, who resides on West Industrial Blvd., Bridgeton, NJ, was charged with drug induced death, a crime of the first degree, by Detectives from the Wildwood Police Department.* This charge was based on an investigation into the death of David King, 31 years old, who was found unresponsive in his residence in Wildwood on August 25, 2017 and later died in Cooper Medical Center on August 31, 2017.

After being charged, Tatem was arrested in Darlington County South Carolina where he waived extradition on July 26, 2018. Tatem was then extradited and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility pending Court proceedings.

Prosecutor Sutherland stated an individual charged with a first degree crime can be sentenced to a term of 10 to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison. Prosecutor Sutherland also commends all the efforts of the Wildwood Police Department Detective Bureau and all of the law enforcement officers involved in this investigation.
